Econo Scottish Basket-Hilt Claymore

The basket-hilted claymore became popular with Scottish troops and officers in the 17th century, slowly replacing heavier two-handed swords. (The word "claymore" essentially means "broadsword", and refers to both the earlier, larger, two-handed swords, as well as the basket-hilted sword.)

Our Scottish basket-hilt claymore has a good-quality, sharpened, carbon-steel blade. (Carbon-steel will rust if not cared for, but it's the best material for a traditional blade.)

The brass hand-guard is lined with red velvet (which sets the Scottish basket-hilt apart from other basket-hilt swords of its time). Each sword comes with its own metal sheath. Overall length, 41 Inches.

Whether you want a great-looking sword to hang over the fireplace, or a new accessory to wear to the highland games, you can't go wrong with our Scottish basket-hilt!

Please see our weapons disclaimer and care instructions before purchase.

Wall Hanger

If you plan to display your sword at home, our broadsword wall hanger is a good inexpensive option.
