When measuring for your hip size make sure you get the actual measurement, using your pants size will result in a kilt that does not fit.

Measure from your waist (kilt waist or pants waist accordingly) to about the middle of the knee. When measuring the length of your kilt make sure you have some one help you so that the measurements are not skewed. Doing it yourself can skew the measurement up to three inches.
