"This is a very handsome buckle; the finish is decent, with good crisp lines and just enough antiquing to bring out the pattern. It seems sturdy, and it's definitely light enough to wear all day or dancing without any problem at all.

It is thinner and lighter than I expected (about 3/16" thick) and the bar and hook on the back are welded on, not cast as one piece. The bar has some sharp corners on the edges facing the buckle-- it won't do anything to you or your kilt, but it will bite into your belt a bit.

The finish overall is a nice satin, but the area where the hook was welded in place doesn't quite match on the buckle I got-- the polishing marks go a different direction (untidy, at an angle) instead of straight horizontally across the face of the buckle as the do on the rest of the surface. It's a pretty superficial thing that could probably be corrected with 5 minutes and a Scotch-Brite pad, but I thought I should note it.

Over all, it's a decent, reasonably good-looking buckle for an affordable price, and I would buy one again if it comes up."
