This beautiful brooch is a St. Bridget's Cross circled by a forevermore Celtic knot. It is made with antiqued pewter and measures approximately 2" wide. St Brigid of Ireland, the Mary of the Gaels, is an elusive figure. One of the three patron saints of Ireland who lived from about 453 A.D. to about 523 A.D. Her feast day, February 1st, was celebrated for over a thousand years in cathedrals across Europe. St Brigid is also a mythic figure renowned as a miracle worker, and a healer. She was named for the ancient goddess Brigid and her connection to the abbey of Kildare in Christian times.
