Penannular Brooch, Lion

In Egyptian and Greek mythology the lion was a brave and powerful guardian of the underworld. It protected the souls of the dead by frightening away evil spirits, and guarded the living by keeping the shades of the deceased within their tombs. Later, in the Middle Ages, the lion came to be a heraldic emblem of nobility.

Hand-crafted in bronze or solid sterling silver. Outer diameter - 2 inches (51 mm)
