The
Scramasax ("sax") was caried by the Vikings, Saxons, and
Celts between the 4th and 10th centuries and was designed after
earlier Celtic weaponry. It is worn horizontally at the back of
the belt, providing an excellent close quarters weapon. It was also
used for many day-to-day chores. The blade is high carbon steel,
while the hilt is hardwood and decorated in bronze.
