Casual Kilts

The Casual Kilt is a great option if you want a nice looking kilt without spending as much money. Nearly identical in appearance to our formal kilts, casual kilts are machine stitched instead of hand stitched (less traditional, but in our opinion actually more durable), and made with less tartan. The average casual kilt is made from 5-6 yards of fabric compared to 8-9 yards in a formal kilt. The end result is a kilt with pleats that are shallower and wider, but still looks great. With less tartan, a casual kilt is lighter and more comfortable for all day wear.
Our casual kilts are made to order in Scotland, so please allow 8-12 weeks for delivery.

NEW! Synthetic Blend Casual Kilts!

Whether you are allergic to wool, or just want a great looking kilt for less, a synthetic blend is a great way to go! Hard wearing, washable (drycleaning is still recommended), and cool to wear, to the untrained eye our poly/viscose tartan is nearly indistinguishable from expensive 100% wool. With about 60 tartans available to choose from, our poly/viscose makes one of the most affordable Casual Kilts available!

Poly/Viscose Casual Kilt

Light weight 11oz tartan, woven from a 65/35 blend of polyester and viscose. Made to order in Scotland with 5-6 yards of tartan. NOTE – poly/viscose tartans are not woven with a kilting selvedge, so kilts will be hemmed. (It still looks great though. You won't know the difference). Special order. Please allow 6-12 weeks for delivery. Hip sizes 46+ add $25. Hip sizes 54+ add $50.

Premium Wool Casual Kilts

Made from 100% pure new wool tartan, woven and made in Scotland. We use three different weavers/kiltmakers, depending on tartan availability: Strathmore, Lochcarron, and House of Edgar.

Light Weight Premium Wool Casual Kilt
KC011 – $350
Made in Scotland from light weight 10/11oz premium wool tartan, the most commonly available tartan fabric. Makes a good kilt, and the light weight is especially nice for hot weather wear. For many tartans light weight is your only option, but if you have the choice we usually recommend a medium weight kilt.

Medium Weight Premium Wool Casual Kilt
KC013 – $375
Made in Scotland from medium weight 12/13oz premium wool tartan.We always recommend a medium weight kilt if your tartan happens to be available – medium weight tartan will hang better and take a crisper pleat than light weight tartan, while still being light and comfortable to wear. It just makes a better all around kilt, so if you have a choice, go with the medium weight.
